This paper examines the impact of the economic adjustment measures on public health expenditure approved in 2012 by the Spanish Government and the effect these measures had in the use and perception of public healthcare and private healthcare by spanish population. The starting point is the Real Decreto-Ley 16/2012, which leads the main modifications on health expenditure by the concept “austerity”, surrounded by the economic crisis of 2008. The main data source used in this investigation is the Barómetro Sanitario, crafted annualy by CIS on the decade from 2006 to 2016. Results show that these economic measurements caused a negative public opinion, which translates to lesser usage.
The statistics used showcase data visualization and analysis with Excel as a main tool and a first introduction to the dataset. Then, a bivariate analysis is implemented utilizng the statistical program SPSS. The main statistics considered are the chi-square test and Cramer's V.
