News

Instagram Channel, Language and Food: Together with my PhD student Ryan Fountain, I launched an Instagram channel for our project on the discursive construction of eating as entertainment. We are posting regular project updates as well as insights from language and food research, food etymologies, and much more. 

BaFoLa Digital Lecture Series, Season 6: The program for the sixth season of the Bayreuth Food and Language Talks (#BaFoLa) is now available. This season features talks by Michael Chesnut (Hankuk University of Foreign Studies), Marco Bagli (University for Foreigners of Perugia), and Sylvia Jaworska (University of Reading).

In the News: Daria Dayter and I were featured as experts in an article on dating coaches published by the Tagesschau: Fragwürdige Methoden von "Dating Coaches".

Guest Editing, Special Issue Linguistics Vanguard: Claudia Lange (TU Dresden) and I have guest edited a Linguistics Vanguard special issue on "The Language of Science Fiction". The special issue features nine exciting corpus-based studies on sci-fi language and has now appeared as Volume 9 Issue 3.


New Publication, Language Science Press: The edited volume Global and Local Perspectives on Language Contact has just been  published by Language Science Press as volume 7 in the Contact and Multilingualism series. This project is a collaboration with Katrin Pfadenhauer and Valentina Serreli (both from the University of Bayreuth). The whole volume is available in open access.


Paperback Publication, Routledge: The Language of Pick-up Artists - Online Discourses of the Seduction Industry (co-authored with Daria Dayter) is now available as paperback version from the Routledge website.

Organization Network Meeting, NoCaSynE: I'm currently organizing the 8th meeting of the DFG-funded network on "Syntax Beyond the Canon: Cutting-edge Studies of Non-Canonical Syntax in English" (aka NoCaSynE), which will take place at the University of Bayreuth, June 3-5, 2024.
