Aves Compartidas is part of the Environmental Leadership Program (ELP) at the University of Oregon. In partnership with the Willamette-Laja Twinning Partnership, we taught five lessons and led one field trip to Mt. Pisgah Arboretum to grades 3-5 at River Road/El Camino del Rio Elementary School about migratory birds, the importance of water and riparian restoration, and the similarities between the watersheds in Oregon and Guanajuato in order to help strengthen cross-cultural ties between the two states.
As a member of the third grade team, I taught students about pollination and how to better protect and assist migratory pollinators like the Rufous Hummingbird on their journey. As an Equipment Manager, it was my responsibility to ensure that materials taken into the field were returned at the end of the day as well as gather supplies for lessons as needed.
