SUBMISSIONS

Submissions have to be made via EasyChair.

All submissions must be formatted in AAAI Style.

Accepted papers will be included in the SoCS proceedings.

We welcome the following kinds of submissions:

• Original Papers (Long or Short)

Original papers are technical papers that report on substantial research or position papers discussing ideas and concepts related to search. Long papers may be up to 8 pages in length, plus an additional page for references only. Short papers may be up to 4 pages, plus an additional page for references only. Long and short original papers should be new work which has not been published in (nor is currently simultaneously under review at) any other archival publication venue, following the AAAI policy concerning submissions to other conferences or journals (see https://aaai.org/Conferences/AAAI-18/aaai18call/ for details).

• Previously Published Papers

In order to foster the exchange of ideas at SoCS, we encourage authors to submit extended abstracts of papers describing new research which has been published in other venues in the last year. These abstracts may be up to 2 pages, plus an additional page for references only. The abstract should reference the original paper. For inclusion of the 2 page abstract in the SoCS proceedings, the abstract must really be a summary of the previously published work and cannot include excerpts of it in order to conform with AAAI press copyrights standards. If an inclusion in the SoCS proceedings is not desired, the abstract must not fulfill these strict standards.

REVIEWING PROCESS

Original papers will be rigorously peer-reviewed. SoCS 2018 will follow a double-blind review process for original papers. Hence authors of original papers are required to omit author information from their submissions and anonymize obvious self-references.

In case the reviewers feel that feedback from the authors could help the decision process for certain papers, there will be a rebuttal opportunity for these (and only these) papers. In this event, authors will be contacted by the chairs via email prior to May 28 and will have time to reply until May 30 (replying is totally optional). It will be at the discretion of the chairs how the author's answers are incorporated in the decision process.

Extended abstracts of previously published submissions will be lightly reviewed in order to ensure that they are of interest to the SoCS community. These abstracts may include authors' identifying information.
