Call For Papers

The purpose of the International Workshop on Societal Computing for the Internet of Things & You (SoCIeTY 2027) is to provide a high-profile, leading-edge forum for academics, industrial professionals, educators and policymakers involved in the field to contribute to disseminating the most innovative research and developments of all aspects of societal computing using Internet of Things (IoT), such as intelligent/smart objects, environments/spaces, and systems. The workshop discusses several new and challenging management and policy-based societal issues which require new technological innovations. We welcome submissions that identify challenges, report experiences, and discuss progress towards design, solutions or vision/ideas of IoT, which will help in contributions to describing techniques applied to real-world problems, novel networking architectures, system designs, and applications and interdisciplinary research involving the integration of IoT devices (including wearables), mobile, edge and cloud resources and machine learning techniques with societal computation.

ACM has introduced a new open access publishing model for the International Conference Proceedings Series (ICPS). Authors based at institutions that are not yet part of the ACM Open program and do not qualify for a waiver will be required to pay an article processing charge (APC) to publish their ICPS article in the ACM Digital Library. APC waivers and discounts are often available. Authors should check and confirm with their institution whether they are eligible for an APC waiver or discount through ACM Open or other institutional/national agreements.

• SoCIeTY 2027 invites original research work or experimental results of in-progress work that has neither been published elsewhere nor is currently under review.

• All papers must be limited to a maximum of 6 pages (including title, abstract, figures, and references) and should adhere to the standard ACM conference proceedings format.

• Submissions must be written in English.

Double Blind Policy:

We will use a relaxed implementation of double-blind peer review. Submissions must not reveal the identity of the authors in any way. In particular, the authors' names and affiliations should not appear in the document itself. Authors should e nsure that any references to their own related work are written in the third person (e.g., not "We build on our previous work..." but rather "We build on the work of..."). The purpose of this process is to help PC members and external reviewers make an initial judgment about the paper without bias, not to make it impossible for them to discover the authors' identities if they choose to do so. Authors are free to disseminate their work through arXiv and other online repositories and to give presentations on their work as usual. Moreover, nothing should be done in the name of anonymity that weakens the submission or makes the review process more difficult. In particular, important references should not be omitted or anonymized.

• All submissions must use the official LaTeX ACM article template acmart.cls, version of 1.80 or greater, using the following documentclass instruction: \documentclass[sigconf,authordraft]{acmart}. Templates are available at acm.org/publications/proceedings-template.

• Papers should not exceed 6 pages double-column, including figures, tables, and references in standard ACM format.

• The use of generative AI software tools is permitted only in accordance with ACM guidelines: acm.org/publications/policies/frequently-asked-questions .

• Indications of conflicts of interest will be required in the submission form. A conflict of interest is limited to the following:

  • A family member or close friend.

  • A Ph.D. advisor or advisee (no time limit), or a postdoctoral or undergraduate mentor or mentee within the past five years.

  • A person with the same affiliation.

  • A person involved in an alleged incident of harassment. (It is not required that the incident be reported.)

  • Frequent collaborators or collaborators who have jointly published papers within the last two years.
