The Aarohan vertical of The Social Service League successfully conducted the Annual Survey for the 212 non-teaching staff of the college starting September 2023. The survey was conducted for a span of around one and a half months with the assistance of over 80 junior members as enumerators and comprehensively covered aspects including Family Data, Health Information, Financial Status, and Assistance Requirements for the Non-Teaching Staff of the College. It helped us understand pressing issues currently being faced by the non-teaching staff who form so essential a part of the college community. The identified concerns among the NTS, including financial hardships during medical emergencies, natural calamities and educational expenses necessitate a structured support system. There have been past instances of student assistance to NTS members highlighting the interconnectedness and supportive nature of the St. Stephen's family.
The Aarohan vertical of the Social Service League proposes the following framework to provide organized support to our NTS members during their times of need.
1. Verification Process: NTS members in need will approach designated SSL representatives, triggering a stringent verification process tailored to specific requests:
Medical Assistance: Submission of detailed hospital bills and contact information of attending medical professionals.
Natural Calamities: On-site verification accompanied by photographic and video evidence of property loss.
Educational Aid: Direct procurement and distribution of requisite educational materials to NTS members.
2. Prioritization of Requests: SSL will employ a case-by-case assessment to prioritize requests based on urgency and impact. Priority will be accorded to medical emergencies, natural calamities, and educational requirements in that order. The process will be guided by consultations with our staff advisor, the bursar, and relevant NTS departmental supervisors
3. Fundraising Mechanism through Crowdfunding page on the new SSL website: SSL will utilize its newly created website to establish a crowdfunding page for fundraisers. This approach eliminates the reliance on third-party crowdfunding apps, such as Milaap, and guarantees data privacy for donors. Fundraising publicity will mainly target the student and alumni community through WhatsApp and email messages. We suggest establishing a dedicated SSL fundraiser account, overseen by the treasurer and financial head of the society. Account details will also be accessible to the bursar and our staff advisor, ensuring transparent financial operations.
5. Monthly Accountability Reports: To ensure accountability, SSL will submit comprehensive monthly reports detailing fundraising activities, verification documents, and utilization of funds to the bursar.
