Social Prally

This little passion project is the result of over two years of digital media and social marketing gigs, across a number of social advocacy organisations, addressing issues such as gender-based violence, public broadcasting and political diplomacy. I saw a gap in the PR space, with little focus on advocacy and media, how they work and how to get your campaign or activism into the media sphere. So this is a feminist, progressive page looking to advise and inform on media, social advocacy and achieving social goals. Follow along as we explore the big wide world of advocacy, media and political action ✊✨

TLDR? Basically, this is the social space where sh*t is going down - your one stop shop for activist media content, commentary and ideas.

Ever been misled by a post on Facebook or a "fact" someone told you on TikTok? Or maybe you're not sure why opposing politicians are sharing conflicting testimonies and facts? How do you know if a news source is sharing facts and is safe to trust?

83% of us use social media everyday, and about 50% engage with at least 2 more types of media each day, such as television, digital streaming or radio*. With the rise of fake news, political misinformation and social change in recent years, it's important to be informed and able to understand media bias and discretion online. So why is there a massive gap in media literacy and usage?

Research has found that people who have higher media literacy engage in more civic and political engagement activities. People with better media literacy are almost four times more likely to engage with public and political discourse than those who don't use or understand social media (8%)*.

So how do we get more people engaged in social change? It's time to get informed, and Social Prally is here to help.
