This Privacy Policy describes how SocialMarks: Bookmark Links ("SocialMarks", "App", "we", "us", "our") collects, uses, and protects your information when you use our mobile application available on the Apple App Store and Google Play Store. We are committed to protecting your privacy and being transparent about our data practices.
By using SocialMarks, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this Privacy Policy.
Feedback and Support Messages: If you choose to contact us through the in-app feedback feature, you may voluntarily provide your email address and a message. This information is stored in our database (Google Firebase Firestore) solely to respond to your inquiry. If you submit feedback through the in-app rating flow, no email address is collected; only a feedback category and an optional message.
When you use SocialMarks, we may automatically collect certain information:
Anonymous Identifier: A randomly generated unique identifier is created and stored locally on your device using encrypted secure storage (iOS Keychain / Android Keystore via Flutter Secure Storage). This identifier is not linked to your real identity and is used solely for internal analytics and feedback attribution.
Analytics Data: We collect anonymous usage data through Firebase Analytics, including:
App interaction events (e.g., screens viewed, features used, buttons tapped)
App language and locale preferences
General device and platform information (device model, operating system version, app version; as provided by Firebase Analytics defaults)
App Language and Locale: We set Firebase Analytics user properties for your selected app language and locale. We also write language preference events to Cloud Firestore when the app first applies your locale and when you change language in Settings.
Subscription and Purchase Information: Your subscription and in-app purchase status (including the Lifetime one-time purchase) is managed by RevenueCat. RevenueCat assigns an anonymous app user ID to manage your purchases. We do not have access to your Apple ID, Google account credentials, payment method, or billing details. Purchase validation is performed anonymously through RevenueCat's servers.
Crash and Diagnostic Data: We may collect crash reports and diagnostic data through Firebase Crashlytics, including device state information, stack traces, device model, and OS version to improve App stability. No personal information is included in crash reports.
Feedback Metadata: When you submit feedback, the following metadata is automatically attached: platform (iOS/Android), app version, build number, device label, device country (derived from your device locale setting — not GPS location), anonymous user identifier, and RevenueCat anonymous user ID.
Aggregated Usage Statistics: We collect cumulative, anonymous usage counts including total number of bookmarks saved, total number of collections created, and a breakdown of bookmarks by source platform (e.g., Instagram, TikTok, web). These counts are stored in Firestore linked to your anonymous user identifier. No bookmark content (such as URLs, titles, or notes) is included in these statistics.
Bookmarks and User Content: By default, your saved links, collections, notes, and tags are stored locally on your device in a local database (SQLite). We do not upload, access, transmit, or store your bookmark data on our servers. If you optionally enable iCloud Sync as a Premium or Lifetime user, your bookmark database may be synced to your own personal iCloud account via Apple's iCloud Documents service. We do not have access to this data.
Personal Identity Information: We do not require registration, login credentials, name, phone number, or any personally identifiable information to use the App.
Location Data: We do not collect precise or approximate geolocation data. The "device country" field in feedback metadata is derived from your device's locale setting, not from GPS or network-based location services.
Contacts, Photos, or Files: We do not access your contacts, photo library, or files unless you explicitly initiate a backup export/import action.
Advertising Identifiers: We do not collect IDFA (iOS) or Android Advertising ID (AAID). The App does not contain advertisements.
Health, Financial, or Sensitive Data: We do not collect any health, financial, biometric, or other categories of sensitive personal data.
We use the information we collect for the following purposes:
We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal information to third parties.
We share limited anonymous data only with the following service providers, strictly for the purposes described in this Privacy Policy:
Services used: Firebase Analytics, Firebase Crashlytics, Firebase Authentication (anonymous only), Cloud Firestore
Data shared: Anonymous analytics events; crash reports; anonymous Firebase Authentication UID where used for feedback; feedback messages and related metadata; selected in-app events mirrored to Firestore for rating and review flows; language preference events (initial set and changes) stored in Firestore; and aggregated usage documents in Firestore (cumulative bookmark and collection counts and bookmark counts by normalized platform category, e.g. Instagram, TikTok, web). No bookmark content (URLs, titles, notes) is included in Firestore analytics or statistics documents.
Purpose: App analytics, crash diagnosis, feedback storage

Purpose: Subscription management, purchase validation, entitlement verification
Privacy Policy: https://www.revenuecat.com/privacy
Applicable to: iOS and macOS users
Data shared: Subscription purchase data processed directly by Apple; bookmark database data only if you optionally enable iCloud Sync, in which case the data is synced to your own personal iCloud account via Apple's iCloud Documents service
Purpose: Payment processing, subscription management, and optional iCloud Sync across your Apple devices
Privacy Policy: https://www.apple.com/legal/privacy/
Applicable to: Android users
Data shared: Subscription purchase data (processed directly by Google)
Purpose: Payment processing, subscription management
Privacy Policy: https://policies.google.com/privacy
We do not share data with any other third parties.
Your bookmarks, collections, notes, and tags are stored in a local SQLite database on your device by default. This data does not leave your device unless you manually export it using the in-app backup feature, or optionally enable iCloud Sync as a Premium or Lifetime user.
Your anonymous identifier is stored using Flutter Secure Storage, which utilizes:
iOS: Keychain Services (hardware-backed encrypted storage)
Android: EncryptedSharedPreferences backed by Android Keystore
We use Google Cloud Firestore to store: (1) user-submitted feedback and support messages; (2) a limited set of anonymous event records related to in-app rating, review flows, and language preference changes, linked to an anonymous identifier; and (3) per-user aggregated usage summaries (cumulative counts only, no bookmark text). These stores are protected with Firebase security rules and access controls.
iCloud Storage (Premium or Lifetime, iOS/macOS only): When iCloud Sync is enabled by a Premium or Lifetime user, the bookmark database file is synced to the user's own personal iCloud account via Apple's iCloud Documents API. This storage is personal to the user, managed by Apple, and is not accessible by SocialMarks. No bookmark content is transmitted to our servers as part of iCloud Sync.
We implement reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect the information we collect, including encrypted local storage and secure cloud connections (HTTPS/TLS). However, no method of electronic storage or transmission over the internet is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Local bookmark and collection data is stored on your device until you delete it or uninstall the App. If you enable iCloud Sync, synced bookmark data may remain in your personal iCloud account according to your Apple iCloud settings and Apple's data retention practices. Anonymous analytics and crash data are retained by Firebase and RevenueCat per their standard retention policies. Feedback submissions are retained as long as necessary to respond to the inquiry and improve the App, after which they are deleted. Subscription and purchase records, including Lifetime purchases, are retained by Apple, Google, and RevenueCat per their respective policies to enable purchase restoration.
Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the following rights regarding your data:
Access: You can request information about the data we hold about you.
Deletion: You can request deletion of any data we hold about you. Since most data is stored locally on your device, you can delete it by clearing the App's data or uninstalling the App.
Export: You can export your bookmark data at any time using the in-app export feature (JSON format).
Opt-Out of Analytics: You can limit analytics collection by adjusting your device's privacy settings:
iOS: Settings → Privacy & Security → Analytics & Improvements
Android: Settings → Google → Ads → Opt out of Ads Personalization
