JUNIOR ART CLASSES
DESIGNED FOR CHILDREN 5-17 YEARS
At Art at Karen’s, children are guided to explore, develop, and grow their creative abilities in a supportive and inspiring studio environment.
Our structured art classes help students build confidence, technical skills, and a deeper understanding of visual art — while keeping creativity, curiosity, and enjoyment at the heart of every lesson.
Students are introduced to the fundamental elements of art, including:
line
shape
value
form
texture
colour
Through engaging, age-appropriate projects, students develop a strong visual language that helps them express ideas, emotions, and imagination with increasing confidence.
Lessons also reference modern and contemporary artists, encouraging students to observe, analyse, and understand how artists use these elements in their work.
Mixed media is used throughout the program to support experimentation and individual creative expression.
Our classes provide a nurturing environment where students are encouraged to:
experiment and take creative risks
develop problem-solving and creative thinking skills
express thoughts, feelings, and ideas through art
build social confidence within a small group setting
Creative learning is designed to be engaging, structured, and enjoyable.
Experienced, qualified instruction
Karen has been teaching art since 1997, with a strong background in fine arts and visual culture. Her approach balances technical skill development with creative freedom.
Small class sizes
Classes are intentionally kept small so each child receives individual guidance, encouragement, and support.
Structured, progressive learning
Lessons are thoughtfully planned and build week by week, allowing students to develop skills, confidence, and creative independence over time.
A nurturing, respectful environment
Students are supported to express themselves creatively while learning to work respectfully within a group setting.
Focus on confidence, not perfection
Children are encouraged to explore, experiment, and develop their own ideas — not simply copy a result.
A strong sense of achievement
The end-of-year exhibition gives students the opportunity to celebrate their work, build confidence, and feel proud of their creative growth.
Classes run across the school year in structured school terms, with lessons progressing week by week.
In Term 4, students participate in a formal exhibition, where parents, family, and friends are invited to view their artworks.
This experience encourages pride, commitment, and confidence in each student’s creative journey.
