Robbers Cave Experiment:

• • 22 boys in the age range of 11 and 12

  • Placed in two groups in Robbers Cave Park in Oklahoma

  • The two groups were placed in direct competition.

  • The boys favored their own group and disparaged the other group.

  • The experimenter required the groups to work together at the end of the experiment and a truce was made between the rivals.

  • It was identifiable that social interactions reduced the competition interactive methods and accommodated the rivalry to result in the truce.
