Models of social influence

Welcome to the social-influence wiki. Here, a community of researchers is collecting, reviewing, and categorizing research findings about the dynamics that social-influence processes generated in social networks.

We do not aim at covering the whole literature, but we try to provide a comprehensive overview over alternative approaches to modeling social influence and putting predictions to the test.

Other topics that we may want to cover:

  • theories of attitude change (e.g. Fishbein's attitude theory)

  • theories of intergroup relations (Social Identity theory)

  • theories of differentiation (Bourdieu, Elias, Keeping-up-with-the-Joneses- models)

  • Distinction between beliefs, attitudes, and behavior
