Educators can create digital assessments at a faster pace and even assess them quicker. It allows them to get creative with their tests and assignments. Data analysis might be the biggest advantage as teachers don't have to personally group marks to track performances, computer software can do that for them. There is also enhanced security as there are multiple online tools that help detect plagiarism, validity and reliability of one's work.
Digital assessments do not only benefit educators, but students too. They enable equity, accessibility, and accuracy in marking and grading. It reduces the bias of educators being more lenient with certain learners over others. Computer-based exams provide a level playing field for special needs students through accessibility software. Students can take the test anywhere at anytime. It reduces the anxiety that comes with waiting for results as it can now be done faster.
The use of educational technology tools has increased in the last few years, and it's important for educators and students to adjust and learn how to use these tools. Some schools have implemented ed-tech tools and have been successful at it, but others are still struggling. It's safe to assume that one day, the world will be completely digital, as we are moving in that direction.
