Class Description: 

The book of Revelation was written in the first century a.d., but it was the last book of the New Testament to be accepted as canon (authoritative scripture). Some Christian scholars in later centuries questioned its authorship, objected to some of its doctrines (for instance, its teachings about the Millennium or its teaching that people would be judged according to their works), and found its Old Testament allusions and visionary narrative to be too strange and too different from other New Testament writings. Pop culture has leveraged much of the symbols found in the book: the four horsemen of the apocalypse, the 7th seal, the sign of the beast, 666, the rapture, the battle of Armageddon, are just a few. John is the author but Jesus Christ is the voice of the Boof of Revelation. We will spend the term studying the doctrines found in the Book along with their relevance, not in popular culture, but in our personal lives.

Class Description: 

A millennium is a period of 1,000 years. When we speak of “the Millennium,” we refer to the 1,000 years following the Savior’s Second Coming. During the Millennium, “Christ will reign personally upon the earth.” The Millennium will be a time of righteousness and peace on the earth. The Lord has revealed that “in that day the enmity of man, and the enmity of beasts, yea, the enmity of all flesh, shall cease.” Satan will be “bound, that he shall have no place in the hearts of the children of men.” In April 2025 Elder Shumway and Elder Rendlund spoke about "participating to prepare for Christ's return," and "personal preparation to meet the Savior." In 2024 President Nelson gave an address entitled, "The Lord Jesus Christ Will Come Again." We will study these talks and more about the reality of Christ's Millennial Reign and our role in preparing the earth for His Second Coming.
