The project entitled Secondary Organic Aerosol investigations in a newly developed flow reactor, acronym: SOA-REACTOR intends to study the secondary organic aerosol (SOA) formation in the atmosphere by simulating SOA formation in a newly developed reaction flow tube.
The main purpose of the SOA-REACTOR project is the development and validation of the flow reactor tube complementary to the existing infrastructure from the University "Alexandru Ioan Cuza" from Iasi.
In order to achieve the main goals of the SOA-REACTOR project there will be considered the following objectives:
Developing, testing, and validating a flow reactor for investigation of the secondary organic aerosols formation from a series of aromatic compounds through the reaction with atmospheric oxidation precursors.
SOA formation yields and chemical composition from the ozonolysis of 2-methylstyrene and 2,6-dimethoxyphenol.
The investigation of the secondary organic aerosol formation from the OH radical initiated degradation of 2-methylstyrene, 2,6-dimethoxyphenol, and 2,6-dimethylphenol.
The effect of OH radical scavengers would be also investigated in the ozonolysis reactions. Relative humidity and NOx influence on the secondary organic aerosol formation yields are the considered parameters to be evaluated during the OH radical initiated oxidation of 2-methylstyrene, 2,6-dimethoxyphenol, and 2,6-dimethylphenol.
Proiectul intitulat "Investigarea aerosolilor organici secundari intr-un tub laminar de reactie nou construit" acronim "SOA-REACTOR" intentioneaza sa studieze formarea aerosolilor organici secundari prin simularea formarii acestora intr-un tub laminar de reactie nou construit. Principalul scop al proiectului este dezvoltarea si validarea unui tub laminar de reactie complementar la infrastructura existenta la Universitatea "Alexandru Ioan Cuza" din Iasi.
Pentru a atinge scopul propus in cadrul proiectului SOA-REACTOR, vor fi considerate urmatoarele obiective:
Dezvoltarea, testarea si validarea unui tub de reactie laminar pentru investigarea formarii aerosolilor organici secundari obtinuti din reactia unei serii de compusi aromatici cu oxidanti atmosferici.
Determinarea randamentelor de formare a SOA precum si compozitia chimica a acestora in urma ozonolizei 2-metilstirenului si a 2,6-dimetoxifenolului.
Investigarea formarii aerosolilor organici secundari obtinuti in urma reactiei de oxidare initiata de radicalii OH a 2-metilstirenului, 2,6-dimetoxifenolului si a 2,6-dimetilfenolului.
Efectul precursorului de suprimare a radicalilor OH in reactiile de ozonoliza va fi de asemena studiat. Efectul umidittii relative si a concentratiei de NOx asupra randamentului de formare a SOA vor fi evaluate in timpul oxidarii initiata de radicalii OH a 2-metilstirenului, 2,6-dimetoxifenolului si a 2,6-dimetilfenolului.
