PlayWhat can kids learn with this? a) Playing through doctor visits can help kids process their fears. b) It helps with perspective-taking. What's it like to be a nurse, a patient, or the person who helps us fill out the forms? What do we do when we think the way our doctor talks to us is the only way a doctor could talk to anyone, and someone else is pretending a doctor says something different? c) Play is also important for learning collective decision making. Who gets to be the nurse first? When do we switch so someone else can get a turn? Some are pretty young for an elaborate version of this play, but we can practice.
