To avoid confusion we must state that the Snap Camera only changes the camera output of your webcam and can be used in video chat programs like Skype, Microsoft Teams, or Zoom to change your image in the video chat. However, you cannot start a video chat through Snap Camera itself.

Does anyone have a good alternative to what used to be "snap camera" for a PC? Something that has a LOT of makeup, lipstick, hair, eyelash, skin filters? I've found a couple but they only have about 10 filters.

Please help me get Snap Camera to work, I tried everything but the camera is not showing. I tried every update and i think there's something blocking it I don't know... i have an Mac with the newest update 11.1

In December, the company also announced that it is planning to shut down the location-based social app Zenly, which was acquired in 2017. As the company will now focus on e-commerce partnerships and paid lenses to generate more revenue with a downsized team, side projects like a desktop camera app will be expectedly slashed.

When I'm in Lens Studio, a lot of times the preview panel will not load properly (more than half of the person is black pixels) and when I click "webcam preview" it will show my face for half a second and then freeze; when I switch from "Integrated Camera" to "Snap Camera", it will show my face (with the filter on it) for another half second and then freeze until I switch the camera again. I figured this wasn't a problem because I just clicked "send to snapchat" and waited 10-20 seconds for it to show up on my phone every time I wanted to test the lens.

I've published an example of the lens and how they will be after people publish lenses of their punks. Here's one: =SNAPCODE&uuid=a9060a23794a43f6b5301024ba987dfd&metadata=01

When I click it in Snap Camera, it does not load. The camera freezes and it never loads. I've tried on 10+ other lenses in Snap Camera and they all load immediately. I've also reinstalled Snap Camera to no avail. I don't remember the size of the lens file in the studio before I published it, but I published another lens very similar with the same scripts and types of .glb files, and it was 0.42MB, hardly a big lens at all. I've cleared the cache in Snap Camera, and it made no difference; the camera freezes and lens still never loads.

In an effort to see if it's just my computer that doesn't work well with Lens Studio, I used my other computer (also 8th gen i5 processor with 12GB RAM) and Snap Camera doesn't even work with that computer. On that computer, I've reinstalled Snap Camera 3 times, I've uninstalled the "integrated webcam" drivers and reinstalled them, I've 10x checked the Windows setting to allow apps to use the camera (Snap Camera doesn't even show up on the 2nd computer settings even though it does on the main computer), I've restarted the computer multiple times, I've closed all processes in task manager that might use the camera, and I've cleared the cache in Snap Camera. It just says "no available camera input" and in settings it has "Integrated Camera" selected, but for camera resolution the dropdown menu doesn't let me click any options.

The device is properly old, and not even specifically listed anymore on the manufacturer website, I believe. There is no obvious model name on the device, but we know it as a CoolSnap 5M (image of camera).

Hi, zoom cannot recognize snap camera in my windows8.1 but my friends use snap camera with their zoom. Is my windos8.1 matter? If you have the same problem and solved it already, please tell me how to solve or what is the cause of the problem. I wonder if I need windows10.

Ok @yozo thank you for getting back to us. There are definitely some apps that are not good with sharing! Just one more thought, when you start your computer sometimes programs will load up and run in the background without you knowing. If you can get to Task Manager I believe you can check there, I am not sure if this will help but just in case -apps-windows-81-requires-you-drag-and-hold

Hi @jeremyjustin than you for your quick reply. I did fully exited Zoom after installing Snap camera app, even restart PC many times to test if Zoom recognize snap camera app. I expected I can see the name of snap camera on the list of video of Zoom because many articles on the internet say so but in my environment, it didn't happen. So I guess my windowsOS 8.1 might be the matter, I'm not sure though.

Hi @jeremyjustin during my checking, I only use Zoom and Snap camera just after start PC. As additional info, USB live camera (real camera) can be used only from one app in my PC, I mean, if Zoom is displaying my face via USB live camera, Snap camera app cannot use it, and the same for Snap camera case. USB live camera cannot be share by two apps. I wonder this also could be the issue. I think my problem could be nothing to do with Zoom, so I would close this question here. Thank you for your help jeremyjustin.

Hi @jeremyjust, while my checking, I used Task Manager to force to quit zoom and snap camera, then restart PC, and check background process by Task Manager. But there were no such apps as occupying camera app. Btw, I tried to use XSplit VCam instead of Snap camera. XSplit VCam appeared on Zoom's video pull down list. But XSplit VCam only show its logo in the video of Zoom.

Actual Result:

Cannot choose camera device on the camera , and NDI (and OBS virtual cam when NDI is uninstalled) is set as default regardless of the camera chosen on brave://settings/content/camera.

I reckon that NDI setting itself as main camera may be an issue I should bring in another forum altogether, but I tried opening Whatsapp on Firefox and although NDI still appears as first option, I can pick which camera I want to use from the camera icon in the search bar.

You can switch the camera on before or during a call using the three-dot More Options menu. The Device settings screen should open to the right side of the screen. Go to the Camera option here and click on Snap Camera from the dropdown menu. You only have to change these settings the first time you use the Snap Camera service.

Control and customize your augmented video with the third-party virtual background app. After you have selected the perfect background or filter, make or join a Lifesize call and have fun! During the call, you can continue to change your virtual background and filters or turn off the augmented video by going to Lifesize settings and changing the camera source.
