Under California, the official IRS legal name for the California State PTA (capta.org) is the California Congress of Parents, Teachers, and Students, Inc.. 

This organization is a branch of the National Congress of Parents and Teachers. It is also commonly known and referred to in its bylaws as California State PTA. 

It's important to note that this is the legal name for the state-level PTA organization in California. Local PTA units, councils, and districts are considered "subordinates" under the umbrella of the California Congress of Parents, Teachers, and Students, Inc. and fall under its 501(c)(3) tax-exempt status. Each individual unit will have its own Employer Identification Number (EIN).
