Library Visits
An educational visit to libraries and museums in Bhavnagar was organized to enhance understanding of the region’s cultural and intellectual heritage. Students explored Gandhi Smriti, Barton Library, the University’s Central Library, and Pattani Archives, gaining exposure to rare manuscripts, historical records, and valuable academic resources beyond the classroom.
Press Media Visit
As part of an academic initiative, a visit to leading media organizations in Bhavnagar provided students with practical exposure to journalism and news production. The tour included Gujarat Samachar, where they observed news collection, editing, and printing processes, and Saurashtra Samachar News Channel Studio, where they learned about broadcast journalism, including scripting, reporting, and studio operations. Interactions with media professionals also highlighted the rise of digital media and the importance of credible news sources.
Academic Visit to Lake & Cafe
To better understand the Romantic Age and the café culture of the Neo-classical period, an educational visit was organized to Gaurishankar Lake in Bhavnagar and TRPNEXT4 Café. The serene environment of Gaurishankar Lake, with its natural beauty and calm surroundings, reflected the essence of Romanticism, emphasizing emotion, nature, and introspection. Students were able to connect literary concepts with real-life experiences by observing how such landscapes inspire creativity and artistic expression.
The visit to TRPNEXT4 Café complemented this experience by introducing students to modern café culture, drawing parallels with the intellectual and social gathering spaces of the Neo-classical age. It highlighted how cafés serve as hubs for discussion, creativity, and exchange of ideas. Together, these experiences provided a meaningful blend of theoretical understanding and practical exposure, enriching students’ appreciation of literary periods in a contemporary context.
Academic Visit to Rajkot
As part of academic enrichment, a visit to Rajkot was organized to explore Gujarat’s cultural and developmental landscape. Students experienced various pavilions, cultural exhibits, and interactive displays highlighting the state’s heritage, industries, and innovations. The visit provided insights into the balance between tradition and modern growth, while encouraging discussions on cultural pride, economic progress, and the role of youth in building a progressive society.
Visit to Regional Science Centre
On 10 December 2025, the Department of English organized a visit to the Regional Science Centre, Bhavnagar, to mark Nobel Day, aiming to encourage interdisciplinary learning by linking science with the humanities.
Students explored five galleries: Marine & Aquatic, Automobile, Biology Science, Electro-Mechanics, and the Nobel Gallery-gaining insights into various scientific concepts and innovations. The Nobel Gallery stood out for showcasing the achievements of Nobel laureates and highlighting the value of creativity, research, and dedication.
The visit helped students recognize the relationship between scientific advancement and human thought, culture, and society, while also providing an opportunity for social interaction during a shared lunch. Overall, it was an engaging and enriching experience that fostered critical thinking and a broader outlook on learning.
