Can my student earn an articulated credit if they take BIM in 8th grade?

Yes. Round Rock ISD and ACC have agreed to offer articulated credit to BIM students in the 8th grade beginning the 2014-2015 school year if the student maintains an 80 average.

Will my student receive an advanced measure for BIM?

If the student maintains an 80 average, the student will also earn an advanced measure that will be applied toward Summa and Magna Cum Laude high school graduation plans.

What is the difference between a high school credit class and a course that has an articulated option?

A high school credit class covers high school curriculum. Articulated courses are designed to cover BOTH the high school curriculum along with the college curriculum.

What is an articulated credit?

Articulation is an agreement with community colleges that make it possible to earn college credit for courses successfully completed before high school graduation. These credits are held in escrow and are then placed on the student’s college transcript when they enter the institution of higher learning that offers the articulated credit.

In order to receive articulated credit what must my student do?

In order to receive an articulated credit in their BIM class, students must meet the following requirements:

  1. Earn at least a 70% or higher on the End-of-Course Exam complied through Austin Community College.
  2. Earn at least an 80% or higher for the course.
  3. Sign up in the ACC system called CATEMA. This is the system ACC uses to keep track of the courses a student has successfully completed while a student attends RRISD. Students will complete this process through their BIM course at the appropriate time.

Will all universities accept my student’s articulated credits?

Every university has their own policies regarding articulated credits. It is always best to speak directly with an admission representative to learn about any transfer of credit restrictions.

Are there more 8th grade classes that have an articulated credit option?

Not at this time.
