SIGN IN - All athletes receiving treatment must sign in before receiving any treatment; this includes “just getting ice or a band aid”, or getting an Evaluation of a new Injury (Refer to Sign in Procedure)
Communicate -Atheltes are asked to communicated with Athletic Trainer for treatments or appointment times
Athletes will be treated on a first come first serve basis on practice days. On game days away athletes will receive treatment first, followed by home game athletes, and then lastly those who have practice.
CLEAN UP - If you make a mess, please clean up after yourself. BE RESPECTFUL NO CLEATS are to be worn in the athletic training room, please take them off and leave them outside the door. NO SHOES ON TABLES - No shoes are to be placed or worn on the taping and treatment tables.
PERSONAL BELONGING OUT OF WAY AND OFF TABLES - All equipment and personal belongings should be left under treatment tables or outside the athletic training room. NOT ON TABLES
RESPECT - Athletes must respect and be courteous to one another as well as the athletic training room staff.
PHONES - No Photos/Videos to respect the privacy of others.
No horseplay, No lounging, loitering in or outside of ATR
No abusive derogatory, slang or swearing is allowed in the athletic training room.
EQUIPMENT - Please do not take anything from the athletic training room without the permission of the Certified Athletic Trainer. All equipment (wraps, slings, braces, crutches, etc.) must be returned once they are no longer needed.
ATHLETIC TRAINER HAS A RIGHT TO REMOVE ANYONE FROM ROOM NOT FOLLOWING RULES.
Injury reported to the athletic trainer either by athlete, coach, or parent. Please report all injuries as soon as they occur. Delaying this process can lead to more time missed from play.
The athletic trainer will assess the injury and help make a decision about care.
Athlete will follow the athletic trainer’s instructions and follow up care.
Athlete may not return to practice until cleared by the athletic trainer
Athlete must be completing rehab in order to be taped for practices/games unless the athletic trainer states otherwise.
Athletic trainer will notify the parents that further medical care is required.
A note from the physician will be needed for return to participation.
If the physician is associated with Wheaton Franciscan/Ascension they may opt to call and verbally verify care with the athletic trainer.
If the athlete has been under the care of a physician, a note will be needed prior to return. If not seen by a physician, the athletic trainer will be able to clear the athlete when they feel they are ready. The athletic trainer will communicate with the coaches on an athlete’s playing status. The coach is not to make a return to play decision, especially in the case of a head injury (Refer to Concussion Tab).
