Family

I have been married for 26 years to my husband Doug, and together we have two daughters.   Our oldest daughter, Lauren, is 20 and is a junior at CSU. Our youngest daughter, Kyleigh, is 15 and is a sophomore at ThunderRidge.   Both Lauren and Kyleigh attended SME for all of their elementary years. Once a Cub, always a Cub! We have a sweet dog named Daisy, a Havanese, that brings our family lots of laughs and joy.   Together, Doug and I own a Christian Brothers Automotive franchise in WheatRidge that Doug oversees. We are also fortunate to have both sides of our extended family nearby, so we spend a great deal of time with our parents, siblings, grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins! 

Education and Experience

I attended the University of Northern Colorado and received my degree in Education.  This is my 19th year as a teacher.  I was hired by Douglas County Schools after college and taught 6th grade for two years at Northeast Elementary in Parker. I had the wonderful experience of being part of a Core Team to open a new school here in Highlands Ranch, where I taught 5th Grade for seven years. After teaching for nine years, I decided, when my oldest daughter was born, to hang up my teaching hat temporarily (it ended up being 12 years!) and stay at home with our girls until  Kyleigh was in school full time.  As the girls got a bit older, I was a substitute teacher here at Stone Mountain a few days a month. I returned to teaching 10 years ago as a Reading Interventionist here at Stone Mountain. During COVID, I also taught 4th-grade eLearning for a year from my basement! This is my sixth year in the GT Facilitator role at Stone Mountain. As part of my role, I obtained my GT Metro Certificate as an endorsement on my elementary teaching credentials. 

Hobbies/Interests

I love spending time with family and friends, going to the movies, reading, and being crafty.  Our daughters keep us busy with youth groups and many other extracurricular activities. As a family,  we love to travel when we can, as well as stay close to home and explore and enjoy the beautiful state we live in!  

Favorites

I love shopping, eating out (especially Mexican food!), grabbing a White Chocolate Mocha at Starbucks, and watching the Broncos! I am a big Disney fan, and my favorite way to travel is on a cruise ship!
