Last week dating from 24.4. – 28.4.2023 was ZŠ Kudlovská 11 in Humenné the host school for partners from Spain and Portugal who participate together in the Erasmus+ project called Sm(art) robots – H(app)y kids. The name of the project implies that the project is focused on working with
robots, processing robots and mastering a simple program as well as more complex tasks.
This time, the students had to program the robots so that they are able during the meeting exchange a few phrases in their own language as well as in English and play the national anthem. Pupils and robots completed the task with A+.
In addition, Slovakian students showed their school to the foreign classmates, who took part of several lessons and had the opportunity to learn table tennis and chess.
Moreover, they were welcomed by the deputy mayor, Mr Babjarčík, together with the authorized head of the education department, Mrs. Smolejová. In the group debate, the foreign partners spoke very positively about our town and our school. They like the greenery, decoration and cleanliness of Humenne.
Geocaching is a game through which our foreign students got to know our town. Students had to fulfill assigned tasks that they were given, for example, to buy 10 dkg of Vysočina Salami or to find a bookstore with books by Spanish, Portuguese and Slovak writers and other interesting tasks. In the middle of the week, together we went to explore Košice with a well-known guide, Mr. Kolcún.
In the steelpark students could test the laws of physics and chemistry on three floors, but also talk to a robot. On Thursday they spent time in nature. Firstly, it was a turist walk to Jasenov Castle and then horse riding, shooting with an arrow and bow and tasting traditional Slovak dishes and spending pleasant moments at the ranch in Kamienka. On the last day, the visitors were presented a guided tour in the Church of All Saints as well as Humenné Castle. After a tasty lunch in the school canteen they said goodbye to each other with best wishes for all, safe journey and reunion.
