Asst. Prof Zinon Zinonos, American University of Beirut Mediterraneo
Dr Zinonos received his Ph.D. degree from Computer Science Department, University of Cyprus in 2013 in computer science. Currently, he is an Assistant Professor at the Computer Science Department of American Uiniversity of Beirut Mediterraneo. In the past, he served as the Project Manager of Paphos Smart city. His research interests include Internet of Things (IoT), wireless, ad hoc, and sensor networks, mobility management in low power devices, adaptive topology control, computer communication networks, blockchain for IoT, intelligent systems, implementation of real-time monitoring and control systems, and energy efficiency.
Prof. Haidar Safa, American University of Beirut
Prof Safa received a B.Sc. in Applied Mathematics and Computer Science in 1991 from Lebanese university, Beirut, Lebanon, M.Sc. in Computer Science in 1996 from University of Quebec at Montreal (UQAM) and a Ph.D. in Electrical and Computer Engineering in 2001 from Ecole Polytechnique de Montreal, Quebec, Canada. In 2000, he joined ADC Newnet in Shelton, Connecticut (a division of ADC Telecommunications that was acquired by SS8 Networks in 2001) where he worked on designing and developing networking and system software. In 2003, Prof. Safa joined the American University of Beirut as an assistant professor where he is currently a professor at the Department of Computer Science. Prof. Safa also associated with the Mobile Computing and Networking Research Laboratory (LARIM), Ecole Polytechnique de Montreal, Montreal, Canada. While at AUB, he has attained considerable achievements in research, funding, and supervision of graduate students. His research activities produced over 90 research papers, mostly in high impact journals, magazines and refereed conferences. He developed, taught a mix of undergraduate and graduate courses, served on committees at all levels, was granted many research funds, and supervised more than 20 MSc/PHD students. Prof. Safa also served or is currently serving on the editorial board of Elsevier Ad hoc networks (since January 2013), organizing and technical program committees of many international IEEE workshops and conferences, a reviewer for many IEEE Transactions, IEEE Magazines, Springer journals, Elsevier Journals, Wiley journals, research proposals, etc.
Prof. Ala' Khalifeh. German Jordanian University
Prof Khalifeh currently holds the position of President's Advisor for University Campus Life at the German Jordanian University, where he also works as a Professor of Electrical Engineering holding the position of Department Head. Dr. Khalifeh received the prestigious Fulbright Scholarship in 2005, which enabled him to pursue his doctoral degree from the University of California-Irvine in the United States of America. In September 2021, Dr. Khalifeh became a Fellow of the Innovation Leaders Fellowship (LIF) Program run by the Royal Academy of Engineering - UK. Dr. Khalifeh was also appointed as the Vice-Dean of the Deanship of Innovation, Entrepreneurship and Technology Transfer (DI-TECH) until September 2023. During his service at the university, Dr. Khalifeh received three distinguished awards, the first one is the German Jordanian University Award for Research Excellence, which was awarded to him in 2023, for his contributions to applied research. The second award, entitled the German Jordanian University Award for Excellence in Cooperation with the Industrial Sector, was awarded to him in 2016 for his efforts in establishing relations with the industry. The third award is the German Jordanian University Award for Research Excellence, which was awarded to him in 2015, for his contributions to applied research. Dr. Khalifeh's research focuses on artificial intelligence, wireless sensor networks, the Internet of Things, computer networks and multimedia systems.
