“Faith is the bird that feels the light and sings when the dawn is still dark.” — Rabindranath Tagore
The Winter Solstice invites us into the stillness of the longest night, where we can pause, breathe deeply, and listen for the soul’s quiet song. In this threshold time, we honor both the darkness that shapes us and the first returning rays of light that guide us toward renewal.
At Lioba Monastery, surrounded by its sacred atmosphere of peace, we step back from the demands of outer life. In silence, meditation, sacred music, and Sufi practices we enter a sanctuary for the soul. In these dark and challenging times, spiritual retreat invites us to tend the light within, so it may shine with renewed strength—nourished by the warmth of fellow travelers and the rebirth of light within and around us.
This is an intimate retreat with limited space in the monastery’s guesthouse Tabor. As it often fills quickly, we encourage early registration.
