Here is a partial list of organizations and programs that support entrepreneurship and small businesses. There are also entrepreneurship clinics at many colleges and universities across the state, including Historically Black Colleges and Universities.

We provide small business loans and financial training to start-ups and existing businesses along with lending services to community-based organizations. Over the past 25 years, from humble beginnings as the NCMSC, Carolina Small Business Development Fund has transitioned to become the leading provider of capital for small businesses in the state.

CVMSDC is a non-profit corporation chartered to enhance business opportunities for minority-owned companies by providing support through developing mutually beneficial networking opportunities with corporate members and promoting minority business development.

The Greater Raleigh Chamber of Commerce builds a thriving regional economy, enhances the community’s quality of life, and strengthens member businesses.

Carolina Small Business Development Fund in partnership with Shaw University has established an Innovation and Entrepreneurship Center in Southeast Downtown Raleigh. The Center’s purpose is to: inspire, connect, encourage, and support startups, students and existing entrepreneurs. Through educational training, entrepreneurs and students will have access to the tools needed to build valuable companies and technical prowess.

The Kauffman Foundation's vision is to foster "a society of economically independent individuals who are engaged citizens, contributing to the improvement of their communities." Its grant making and research activities are focused on advancing entrepreneurship, improving the education of children and youth, and supporting civic development in Kansas City.

The National Community Reinvestment Coalition and its grassroots member organizations create opportunities for people to build wealth. We work with community leaders, policymakers and financial institutions to champion fairness in banking, housing and business.

NCRC was formed in 1990 by national, regional and local organizations to increase the flow of private capital into traditionally underserved communities. NCRC has grown into an association of more than 600 community-based organizations that promote access to basic banking services, affordable housing, entrepreneurship, job creation and vibrant communities for America’s working families.

MCNC is working with the North Carolina Institute of Minority Economic Development (NCIMED) in Durham to reach North Carolina companies who qualify as small, disadvantaged and minority-owned businesses. NCIMED has been advising MCNC on BTOP-related opportunities for several months and will continue to work with MCNC to make businesses throughout the state aware of BTOP-related opportunities.

NC State’s Entrepreneurship Collaborative brings the real world into the classroom; it provides a fertile environment for professionals, startups and future entrepreneurs to seek opportunities and meet challenges through collaboration.

The U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) was created in 1953 as an independent agency of the federal government to aid, counsel, assist and protect the interests of small business concerns, to preserve free competitive enterprise and to maintain and strengthen the overall economy of our nation. The SBA helps Americans start, build and grow businesses. Through an extensive network of field offices and partnerships with public and private organizations, SBA delivers its services to people throughout the United States, Puerto Rico, the U. S. Virgin Islands and Guam.

The nine-year partnership between Wake Tech and Wells Fargo Bank has provided hundreds of entrepreneurs with training on how to start and grow a business, sales, and social media. We are constantly adding to our offerings, based on the needs and feedback of current and aspiring business owners in Wake County.

The mission of the Women’s Business Center of North Carolina is to promote economic self-sufficiency for all women in North Carolina through entrepreneurship.

We empower women by offering tools and support to establish businesses, stabilize their companies, generate sustainable profits, strategize for future growth and contribute to the growth and economic development of the community.
