The SBC aligns with the call to action from many other entities advocating for and seeking to restore the economic health and vitality of small businesses across the state that were devastated from immediate closures and significant shifts in their delivery of services. We believe the following agenda items will at least provide a set course of action toward relief. Long term economic support will be critical. We strongly urge our leaders, elected officials and decision makers across the state to laser focus on these items to help buoy entrepreneurs and small business owners during these desperate times.
o Immediate cash flow and equitable access to a variety of credit sources, loans and other resources to support and strengthen small businesses during this unprecedented time; Easy and uncomplicated access to the resources for those in need
o Expansion of the Affordable Health Care Act
o Increased access to the paid family medical and sick leave programs; consider the needs of small employers (those less than 50 employees)
o Expansion of unemployment insurance; straightforward and accessible for those who were rapidly transitioned from their jobs
o Ongoing and up to date information and professional development resources consistently provided to small businesses (COVID, getting back to business/work in a timely fashion, disaster responses, managing anxiety, re-engaging the workforce, adjusting to this new normal, etc.)
Other items we should add to the SBC agenda? Please send us an email at smallbusinessdemsncdp@gmail.com .
