In 2020, Mariatere collaborated with peers to create a restorative/transformative justice (R/TJ) initiative within her PhD program. A grant was secured to study the program’s culture, sense of belonging, and teaching philosophy. She continues to explore equity and wellbeing through community-based projects both within and beyond academic settings.
