Things may seem impossible but keep going, That’s at the core of The Great Pumpkin Rescue -- a tall tale in rhyme. Inspired by writer Robert Ross Parker's cross-country bike trips where he would make up whimsical stories to tell his four year old kiddo, while he struggled to tow her behind his bike on an epic ride from NYC to North Dakota. Years later, illustrator Rebecca Scheckman brought them to life with her lush illustrations while navigating the rollercoaster of pregnancy and postpartum. This all kinds of tracks! Robert and Rebecca met through their shared love for Aikido at Brooklyn Aikikai where they each honed their discipline and discovered they share a pattern of turning difficulty into creativity. Slotted Spoon Stories is the name of their new collaboration to bring this story to life.
We are currently in a process of formatting our book. We have hired our graphic designer, Bekka Lingstrom who is notably the Art Director and Graphic Designer for The Dramatist Guild of America. This has been truly exciting and collaborative. Robert, Rebecca and Bekka meet in Bekka's carefully assembled creative home in the heart of Chelsea, NYC where we imagine the best way to present this tall tale.
