Meet Your PTO

I currently serve as Co-President of the Slingerlands PTO and this marks my ninth year of involvement with the PTO community. Professionally, I work at St. Thomas the Apostle School as the Director of Enrollment and Advancement.

My most important role, however, is being a proud mom of three boys — a 3rd grader, a 5th grader, and an 8th grader. Since my oldest began at Slingerlands Elementary in 2016, our family has made countless amazing memories here. The school has been the foundation for so many of my boys’ childhood experiences, and it has been a true joy to help create and share in those moments along the way.

When I’m not working or volunteering, you’ll usually find me on the sidelines cheering on my boys at baseball games, wrestling matches, and basketball games. I’m looking forward to another great school year filled with exciting events and continued community connection!

My name is Ashley Loux and I am the Co-Secretary/VP of Room Parents this year. My husband and I have one son, Anthony, who is a third grader at Slingerlands. I have helped out on a variety of PTO committees since he was in kindergarten and I love being able to support our Slingerlands community and school. I am a first grade teacher in Clifton Park and I have a passion for working with children. In my free time, I love to read, garden, hike, camp and spend time with my family. I am looking forward to seeing you at one of our many events and working together to support our amazing Slingerlands students and staff! 

Hi! I’m Rachel Kramer. I grew up in Bethlehem. I went to Hamagrael Elementary School and graduated from Bethlehem High School, with my husband, Ryan, in 2004. My son, Keegan is in 3rd grade, and my daughter Maddy is in 1st grade. I’m excited to join the Slingerlands PTO Board as co-Secretary and co-VP of Room Parents, with Ashley Loux. I teach 8th grade English, at Voorheesville Middle School. In my free time, you can find me at the dance studio, soccer field, basketball court or baseball field, loudly cheering on my kids! 

Hi! I'm Erica Van De Wal.  I grew up in the Capital District and have lived in Ithaca, Rochester, New York City and Albany. I have a son, Quinn, at Slingerlands Elementary and I am honored to serve on the PTO board as VP of events. I am the Planning Director for the NYS Office of Mental Health and have worked for OMH for over 15 years. I love snowboarding, hiking, and adventures with Quinn! 

I've been living in the district for a little over 7 years and I started my tenure as co-treasurer for the Slingerlands PTO in fall of 2023.  I have a background in business having earned an MBA from SUNY Albany in 2016.  Formerly, I worked in the pharmaceutical industry as a biochemist, but I now enjoy my time caring for my children and home.  I have three kids enrolled in district schools, the eldest (age 12) at the middle school and the younger two (ages 7 & 9) at Slingerlands Elementary.  Having been a second home to all three of my children, Slingerlands holds a special place in my heart and I look forward to continue serving the community as co-treasurer.

Hello!  I'm Sara, your VP of Communications. This is my 1st year as a PTO Board member and I'm looking forward to having fun serving our school community! My son, Sidney, is a 2nd grader at Slingerlands.  I grew up in Illinois and am a die-hard Chicago Bears fan.   I moved to New York in 2003 and have worked as a virologist with the NYS Department of Health for 24 years.  I truly love going to work every day.   I also enjoy hiking with the family,  listening to music, and heated Uno matches with Sidney!
