Why do we fundraise?

The short answer is, we raise funds to enhance the educational and social environment at Slingerlands Elementary. The PTO raises funds for projects and activities to improve our school but that are not covered by the school district budget. The PTO tries to minimize any inconvenience and hardship that fundraising activities may create, but it is only through the participation and generosity of Slingerlands families that the PTO is able to provide additional resources for our school.

What do we do with the money?

Funds raised by the PTO support the following:

  • School Assemblies

  • Recess Equipment/Gym Expenditures

  • Classroom Start-Up Funds for Teachers

  • Schoolwide Events

  • Educational Programs

  • Fifth Grade Events

  • Teacher & Staff Appreciation Events

Donations

We understand that sometimes families would rather make a donation than participate in fundraisers. We appreciate these donations. To donate, please send a check to the Slingerlands PTO to the school with your child in an envelope labeled "Slingerlands PTO - Treasurer" or you can use our Paypal link, we ask that you include a note letting us know it's a donation. paypal.me/SlingerlandsPTO


Tools for Schools

Please remember to register for Slingerlands School at Price Chopper for the Tools for Schools program. It’s quick and easy, and our teachers benefit greatly from “free” supplies and materials. Remember to save box tops for the Box Tops for Education program throughout the year. Collection bins are in the main lobby.


Box Tops for Education

Do you have a pile of box tops sitting on your window sill? Don’t forget to send them to school. Last year we raised over $700 with all those tiny cardboard and plastic labels, so it is worth the effort of clipping them. There are collection boxes in the main entry and in the kindergarten-first grade wing. We collect current (non-expired) box tops. Please cut them out and please don’t submit anything that doesn’t say “Box Tops for Education.” Click here for a list of products that carry box tops on their packaging.
