This page will refer you to special concerts featuring the trombone as well as special offers we may be able to give you to concerts, on occasion!
The music of seventeenth-century Italian composers like Barbara Strozzi, Francesca Caccini or Sigismondo d'India encourages and requires an extreme level of subltety and variation in sound colours, articulations and shading. As such, it constitutes a perfect conduit to explore the vocal virtuosity of the baroque trombone, an instrument that historically has perhaps more than any other been associated with the human voice.
Trombonist Maximilien Brisson (Germany) with harpsichordist Christophe Gauthier and organist Luc Beauséjour (Montreal) play laments of the early baroque, illuminating the connection between vocal and instrumental music of the period. With guest soprano Hannah Pagenkopf.
$40 (general admission) / $20 (students - at the door)
Presented by: Early Music Voices
There will be a Masterclass with Maximilien Brisson on the morning of Monday March 9 2026 at 10:00am in the TransAlta Pavillion at MRU Taylor Centre for the Performing Arts.
