History of Slide Into Spring: Calgary's Trombone Day to celebrate International Trombone Week

Slide Into Spring began in 2014 as an outreach project for trombone players of all ages and levels in the Calgary region.

A workshop/symposium-style day was developed to give an opportunity for trombonists to meet on common ground and celebrate our magnificent instrument - also around the same time as International Trombone Week!

Slide Into Spring is an event for all ages and levels of trombonists and has regular contributions from Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra players as well as other top musicians from the region.

Slide Into Spring has garnered international attention in the ITA Journal as well as other publications and from industry leaders.  This led to a special visit from a trombone ensemble from Belgium in 2022 - Crossbones Trombones.
