She is spending her summer in the Shepherd lab determining the involvement of a particular pathway, the ESCRT pathway, in the release of Arc from neurons in extracellular vesicles.

We are delighted to announce and congratulate Ziyu Wang from Wasatch Academy as the 2019 winner of the Brain Bee competition! She spent her summer doing an internship in the lab of Dr. KC Brennan. His lab uses a combination of imaging and electrophysiology techniques to study cortical spreading depression (CSD), a wave of excitation in the brain thought to be the basis of migraine aura. Congratulations to both Ziyu, Wasatch Academy, and her teacher Janette Newton!
