Pandemic Christmas Shop by Catherine Shaw
Pandemic Christmas Shop by Catherine Shaw
For two days over the first weekend in December, a Slate Islands Trust Christmas shop “popped up” in the carport at Kilbrandon Farm. Tables were laid out with cards, books and sculptures: all from stock that would have been offered for sale in the museum had we been allowed to open for the summer season.
The items for sale were displayed amongst a variety of Christmas decorations and, to add a further boost to the festive spirit, Mike was on hand to dispense mulled wine and biscuits to the customers. Masks were worn and social distancing was observed, made easier because the weather was quite kind.
A good number of shoppers came by and over the two days, a total of over £300 was taken. It was, after the months of lockdown, a nice change to see so many folk, so the undertaking proved enjoyable for us and turned out to be quite worthwhile for the museum funds.
