Is there a way to set text size in Apple News so that the reading experience is more consistent? Right now I'm constantly changing text size manually for nearly every article because there's different font sizes and styles depending on the article / publisher.

Would you please test the case by removing the Revolution Slider from the page and see if it fixes the problem? If that is the problem cause then you need to go to the Revolution Slider settings and fix the font problem:

In 1908, Morris Fuller Benton designed News Gothic for American Type Founders. The original design, with two condensed faces, is essentially a light version of Franklin Gothic. In the late 1940s, after a decline in popularity because of the success of the sans serifs from Europe (i.e., Gill Sans, Futura, Kabel), American gothic typefaces made a comeback. It was during this time that more versions of News Gothic were designed, including News Gothic Bold, which Intertype released in 1955. Like Franklin Gothic, these typefaces are classics for newspaper headlines, advertising, and packaging.

Researchers also posed questions to gauge how health-conscious participants were and gave varying time limits to some to measure the effect time constraints have on their decisions. Cai said the study results showed that participants in second group, who saw low calorie counts printed in large fonts, were more likely to lean toward the healthier option. Respondents who indicated they were less health-conscious were also the most affected, particularly when there was a tight timeframe to make the choice.

"Starting February 6, 2023, domestic offices, and bureaus, as well as posts overseas, also should adopt Calibri as the standard font for all requested paper in support of creating a more accessible Department," it added.

Hudson noted he was "informed" the change wasn't because of "some aesthetic opposition to serifs" by Blinken. He pointed to further details mentioned in the cable that said such fonts "introduce accessibility issues for individuals with disabilities."

Pennsylvania State University classifies both Times New Roman and Calibri fonts in the same category of fonts with "reasonable legibility," but neither made its list of "highly recommended fonts" for accessibility, which include Verdana and Tahoma fonts.

According to the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, both sans-serif fonts, like Calibri, and serif fonts, like Times New Roman, "are recommended because they are most likely to be accessible to all users."

An Electronic Doc license is based on the number of publications in which the font is used. Each issue counts as a separate publication. Regional or format variations don't count as separate publications.

We'll supply a kit containing webfonts that can be used within digital ads, such as banner ads. This kit may be shared with third parties who are working on your behalf to produce the ad creatives, however you are wholly responsible for it.

Webfonts can be used on a single domain. Agencies responsible for multiple websites, for example web design agencies or hosting providers, may not share a single webfont license across multiple websites.

Every time the webpage using the webfont kit is loaded (i.e, the webfont kit CSS which holds the @font-face rule is called) the counting system counts a single pageview for each webfont within the webfont kit.

In the 1950s, metal fonts were still the primary method for delivering type, but the hundreds of foundries that once flooded the market in the 19th century had folded or merged by then. In Europe and North America, most countries were left with just one or two companies (if any at all) producing original typefaces. West Germany, on the other hand, had seven active foundries.

when trying to preload font crossorigin should be set to anonymous (eg: crossorigin="anonymous") fonts are expected to be fetched anonymously, without this attribute, the preloaded font is ignored by the browser, and a new fetch takes place.

You should also use direct pathing instead of url pathing. This is ok /wp-content/themes/Newspaper/images/icons/newspaper.woff?19 ... This is not ok -content/themes/Newspaper/images/icons/newspaper.woff?19

You can instead use the rel="prefetch" attribute to tell the browser to prepare the download of the resources that may be required later during page load or user actions so it will assign a low priority to those resources. This will result in a default load font then a switch to the custom one later on. (we're not waiting on the font to load before showing the content, which is I think default behaviour).

Stuff to know regarding font loading and browser default behaviours... Edge (even tho nobody use it) uses a system font until the custom font is ready, then swaps out fonts.Chrome will hide text for up to 3 seconds. If text is still not ready, it will use a system font until the custom font is ready. Firefox will hide text for up to 3 seconds. If text is still not ready, it will use a system font until the custom font is ready. Safari hides text until the custom font is ready.

Taking a look at your website page-source I can see that you're currently loading your font 3 times (probably once in style.css, once in function.php and once in header.php), which is probably causing major performances loss. loading it only once is sufficient. Loading through cc is the least recommended regarding performances. Best practice is to register and enqueue from function.php

Please be advised that changing the fonts within a section (e.g., one paragraph with serif font, and the next with sans serif font) is not supported at this time. We also do not support custom fonts. You can still use pull quotes, block quotes, code blocks, checklists, bullets, etc. as before to style your text.

PREAMBLE

The goals of the Open Font License (OFL) are to stimulate worldwide development of collaborative font projects, to support the font creation efforts of academic and linguistic communities, and to provide a free and open framework in which fonts may be shared and improved in partnership with others.

The OFL allows the licensed fonts to be used, studied, modified and redistributed freely as long as they are not sold by themselves. The fonts, including any derivative works, can be bundled, embedded, redistributed and/or sold with any software provided that any reserved names are not used by derivative works. The fonts and derivatives, however, cannot be released under any other type of license. The requirement for fonts to remain under this license does not apply to any document created using the fonts or their derivatives.

3) No Modified Version of the Font Software may use the Reserved Font Name(s) unless explicit written permission is granted by the corresponding Copyright Holder. This restriction only applies to the primary font name as presented to the users.

5) The Font Software, modified or unmodified, in part or in whole, must be distributed entirely under this license, and must not be distributed under any other license. The requirement for fonts to remain under this license does not apply to any document created using the Font Software.

The license for this font is the SIL OFL license. This license does not allow us to redistribute derivative versions of the font without wholesale name changes inside and out of the font. Until we figure out a reasonable method of delivering these to you and complying with the license, you will have to use the Webfont Generator yourself on these, renaming the fonts appropriately.

News Gothic and Arnhem both require the purchase of a single font license per computer. Cleveland Clinic does not have blanket ownership to distribute these fonts. If you believe you have a circumstance that requires you to have these fonts, please email onbrand@ccf.org and we will evaluate.

Fonts are considered software since they are installed on our computers. When you purchase a license to use the font, you agree to the conditions determined by the seller. The conditions are outlined in the license.

Do not use News Gothic or Arnhem on websites, apps or other digital experiences. These require special licensing and require ongoing subscriptions and maintenance. On Cleveland Clinic websites and apps, please use open-source fonts. Open-source fonts may be used free of charge by anyone anywhere for any purpose.

Futura PT is UCM's official font. The serif typeface chosen to complement the UCM signature font is Times and is intended to be used primarily for body copy. The university identity is designed to stand on its own within a broad variety of applications. These fonts should be used in most UCM publications. The consistent use will establish a continuity of appearance that will help support the recognizability of the UCM brand, while promoting a professional, cohesive look in all communications. When Futura PT is not available it may be substituted by Helvetica or Arial.

I work for an animal shelter that traces its history back to 1873. With the help of the local library, my colleagues and I were able to find the original newspaper article that discussed the initial organizing meeting. The microfilm image is not very legible. You can view the image here:

We would like to reproduce this clipping in our marketing materials, and we may want to turn it into a plaque for display in our lobby. Rather than trying to tweak the article using digital re-touching, I am interested in the possibility of re-typing it from scratch. But I still want it to look authentic (in other words, the font should not be too "crisp" -- it should still look like an old newspaper article). Ideally, the font should closely resemble the actual font used in the original article.

This is a newspaper, not a typescript, so rather than a monospaced typewriter font you will need something like Scotch Roman. Of the list at that link, Mercantile Display or Inflex Bold may work for the heading; Century Expanded for the body text. ff782bc1db
