Sir Chandrashekhara Venkata Raman (1888-1970)

C.V. Raman is known for his pioneered work in the field of light scattering (also known as Raman effect). He was awarded Nobel Prize for Physics in 1930 for his work.

Thoughtful Observation: On his journey to England, he was looking at the color of sea. He became curious to know why sea looks blue even when big waves rolled up. Intuitively, he thought that water molecules are breaking up Sun’s light.
