EVENT INSURANCE
As required by our insurance, we require your rental to be covered by Event Insurance with a minimum $1M liability insurance coverage for property damage or bodily injury that could happen during your event. The policy must include Host Liquor Liability coverage if any alcohol is being served or consumed at any time during your rental and it must cover your entire stay on the property. Proof of your liability insurance must be provided prior to your rental date.
If you are a business or non-profit with existing liability insurance, you can request that "Skamokawa Grange #425" be added to your policy as an "additional insured" for the day(s) of your event.
If you are a private party and have a homeowners or rental insurance policy, you can call your agent and ask them about event insurance.
Another option is to purchase a Special Event Liability Insurance Policy. What is that? A Special event liability insurance policy directly protects you against losses stemming from personal injuries and property damage at your event. Medical payments, lawsuits, and property damages are a few of the most common costs which could be incurred during your event. There are several online websites that sell liability insurance policies that will cover your event - most at reasonable prices. Here are some quick and easy links to a few of those - Click the boxes for more information. (Linking to these does not constitute an endorsement of their services.)
SERVING ALCOHOL AT YOUR EVENT
If you plan to serve alcohol at your event, there will be an additional rental fee. Also, you will need a WA State Liquor and Cannabis Board (WSLCB) special license or permit. Click on the above link to go to the WSLCB website that discusses the types of permits and their requirements. A basic list of special licenses and permits is included below.
In addition, your event insurance must include Host Liquor Liability Coverage (see event insurance above). Proof of WA state WSLCB permit/license and event insurance including Liquor Liability coverage must be provided to the Grange Contact 7 days prior to the event.
A Banquet Permit is a permit you apply for that allows the service and consumption of liquor at a private, invitation-only banquet or gathering held in a public place or business. Alcohol can not be sold. Examples include weddings, company banquets, retirement parties, and club, organization, or church events. This permit can be purchased online at the above URL and costs $25/day along with other requirements.
The Special Occasion License allows a registered nonprofit organization to sell spirits, beer and wine by the individual serving for on-premises consumption at a specified date, time and place (i.e. fundraising dinner, gala event, auction, wine tasting). Any alcohol consumed at a special occasion event must be sold by the special occasion licensee. Alcohol cannot be given away. Applications must be submitted at least 45 days prior to the start date of your event. A link to an online application can be found at the above URL. Cost is $90/day per location.
OUR KITCHEN
Our grange kitchen is not commercially certified, nor a Wahkiakum Health Department approved facility. This means if you plan to sell or serve food to the public at your event, you must obtain the appropriate permits and approvals from the Wahkiakum Health Department. According to the state food safety regulations, a temporary food service permit application and fee must be submitted to the Wahkiakum County Health Department at least 14 days prior to the event. Failure to submit the application and fee at least 14 days prior to the event will result in a late fee applied to the permit. Click on the above link to go to the Wahkiakum County Health Department's Food Program information page.
Our kitchen includes an electric 4 burner stove, refrigerator, microwave, small and large coffee makers and 3 sinks. There is no dishwasher. No grange supplies may be used, so plan to bring service and disposable supplies. Also renter must carry away left over food and all garbage for offsite disposal.
OUR PA SYSTEM, STAGE, and PROJECTION SCREEN
Arrangements for use of our stage, projection screen and/or our sound system during your rental must be made in advance.
We may provide a microphone and use of our PA system, along with a short orientation on how to use it for the renter. We also have a ceiling mounted 10' x 12' projection screen available for use.
