Our goal is to increase the number of women who continue their study in Mathematics

On Thursday, November 7, 2024, the University of Wisconsin-Superior hosted the sixth annual Sonia Kovalevsky Day (SK Day).  The purpose of SK Day is to introduce students to interesting mathematics and to teach about opportunities available to those who continue to study mathematics.  More details about the events agenda will be shared in August.  SK Day is a FREE event that will include lunch.

Please check back in April/May 2024 for information about SK Day 2024!

Event Capacity

Sonia Kovalevsky Day will be capped at 150 participants.  When we reach our capacity, registration will close and a waitlist will open.  We encourage you to sign-up on our waitlist.  If a cancellation occurs, we will contact schools to see if those interested are still able to attend.

In addition to SK Day, we will be hosting three virtual workshops dedicated to supporting teachers in their work of encouraging female students to pursue math-related fields.  The first workshop will focus on teachers for attending SK Day.  The second two workshops will be open to all teachers, even those unable to join us for SK Day.  These workshops will be a FREE professional development opportunity for math teachers.  More details about the math teacher workshops will come in August.
