We hold our student-athletes to high standards. Through dedication, discipline, and a focus on our core values, we believe that our student-athletes will learn valuable lessons that will serve them well throughout their lives and be CHAMPIONS FOR LIFE. While our primary aim is to enhance their soccer skills, we are equally committed to fostering resilience, striving for excellence, instilling community pride, and nurturing team loyalty.
It's important to clarify that while we celebrate success, whether it be through wins, regional, or state championships, our ultimate focus lies in supporting our student-athletes in building the foundational habits that will mold them into champions for life.
Our core values drive our actions and decisions in all that we do. The coaches have given a lot of thought to these core values and we feel that developing these values will benefit our student-athletes throughout their life.
we make our town proud
The way we act and behave on and off the field will reflect the respect and love we have for the community we belong to. Wherever we go in life we are always part of a community as well as the amazing community of St. Johns.
we do our best
We will always strive to do our best in all that we do. Whether that is within soccer, school, community, church, home life, work, etc. We will have pride in the work that we do, on and off the soccer field.
we never give up
Life is hard. Many of us have gone through hard times and will experience hard times in the future. Being resilient and knowing that as we continue to move forward things will get better. We will have a resilient mindset.
our allegiance is with our team
Vince Lombardi said, “Individual commitment to a group effort—that is what makes a team work...” Keeping these values at the forefront of what we do and by following our team rules will show loyalty to the team.
We expected all members of the team to always behave appropriately. You will never hear the coaching staff use inappropriate language, and we expect the same from our players. It is a matter of self-control and discipline in the language and actions you use during heated times. We want to create an environment of learning where we can focus on what will help us the most.
It is expected that each player knows the practice, game, and team event schedule. You can find our team calendar on Google. There is a link on this website here. We will communicate the time of transportation for away games. Don't miss the bus! For the home games, we expect that each player will be ready to warm up 45 minutes before kick-off. Being on time shows loyalty to your team.
If a player will miss, be late to, or will need to leave early, we expect that to be communicated to the coaching staff in advance. That can be communicated by the player himself or by a parent/guardian. That can be a call to one of the coaches or texting both of them. Please text both at the same time. Here is their contact information, if needed. Please do this with as much advance notice as possible.
This means, but is not limited to, teammates, coaches, parents, fans, officials, and the opposing team. This aligns with our core value of community. We want to have good sportsmanship, and when others that we come in contact with think of St. Johns they will have a high impression because of how we act.
The coaching staff has put a lot of thought into our team values. We have gathered a lot of feedback before making the decision. We strongly believe that these values will help the members of our team in soccer, school, and life. It is important to us, for the sake of the team's success, that we develop and embrace these values. This shows loyalty.
Striving to be your best is a journey that lasts a lifetime. Give 100% during all practices, team meetings, and games. Show resilience by never giving up through any challenge. Believe in yourself and believe in your teammates. Be excellent in the effort you put into everything you do.
