We praise publicly and reprimand privately. We do not shame student-athletes but help them understand what they are doing incorrectly.
Our student-athletes should feel safe around us in all aspects of life, on and off the field. We should be trusted adults in their life.
All coaches are expected to live our core values, follow the team rules and keep the mission of the program at the forefront of their minds. Supporting the mission is critical to the success of the program and the student-athletes. We want to create champions for life!
We believe that for our student-athletes to succeed we have to ensure that their physiological needs are met, make sure that they feel safe and secure while at practices and games, help them feel a sense of belonging and create their 'soccer family', build their self-esteem and find ways that they can believe in themselves so they can reach their true potential in life, not only in soccer.
It is okay to fail. Our student-athletes need to feel safe to fail. It means they are trying and pushing themselves. We ask our student-athletes to learn from their mistakes and work on improving to avoid those mistakes in the future.
