WEB

WEB stands for Where Everyone Belongs. It is a mentoring program to help students during transitions. At our school the 8th graders mentor the incoming 7th graders. Those students who are mentors take the 7th graders under their wing and show them the ropes of a new school. Through games they teach them strategies to be successful in junior high, give them a tour of the school and provide friendship throughout the year. Click here to find out more about WEB.

Attendance

Did you know research shows that missing just a couple of days each month negatively impacts academic performance? It is important to have your student at school when they aren't sick. Not only does it affect their academics, but creates habits that affect their future success.

Dave Ramsey Financial Literacy

Dave Ramsey recommends that teens follow these five steps to begin building a strong financial base. They should start by opening a savings account and begin saving money.

STEAM

With the number of well paying jobs in STEAM fields GEAR UP makes a push for STEAM in order to guide students down a path of success. Giving them the opportunity to explore, create and problem solve opens their eyes to the many career paths that are linked to Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math.

Preparing for College

In June a group of students attended a STEM camp at GCU. They were able to meet other GEAR UP students and take a tour of the campus.

Preparing for a Career

AT GCU students were able to explore a variety of careers in the medical field. They tested the strength of bone, learned the functions of blood cells, acted out the action in the brain and saw a real heart cadaver.
