Shared mobility systems present an interesting fleet management challenge, closely linked with managing demand. Their inherent flexibility make them different from other traditionally studied transportation sectors and innovative ideas - such as the integration of pricing decisions with fleet management - can be applied to obtain significant impact in terms of sustainability - both economic and environmental.
This project will be organized around four main research ideas:
- Integrating pricing and revenue management with fleet management has a high impact in these business models.
- Significant synergies can be obtained from studying car rental and car sharing systems within the same project.
- Uncertainty affecting demand and other realistic requirements must be considered to get real-world managerial insights. However, they increase the complexity of the problem.
- The decomposition of mathematical models associated with metaheuristics allows tackling this complexity.
