SITES Certification Overview

This signage library focuses primarily on Credit 9.1, Promoting Sustainability Awareness and Education, of the SITES v.2 Reference Guide (see graphic table). This section expands on key details to promote understanding of sustainability in ways that positively influence park visitors’ behavior. 

There are key requirements at the core of this section: 

• A minimum of three educational or interpretive elements that draw attention to and explain sustainable features or processes of the site design, construction, operations, or maintenance 

• Demonstrate how the educational elements represent environmentally responsible behavior

• Additional education: Interactive educational or interpretive elements
