Zana Christian Kone
PhD Student in Economics
Zana Christian Koné is a researcher in economics with professional and academic experience in Canada, France, and Côte d’Ivoire. His work focuses on monetary policy, uncertainty, and international risk-sharing, combining macroeconomic theory, econometrics, and applied statistics. With strong expertise in macroeconomics, statistics, and econometrics, he brings both rigorous analytical skills and a broad vision of economic dynamics in an increasingly uncertain world. His first language is French, and he also speaks English at an intermediate level.
Over the years, Zana has accumulated diverse teaching and research experiences. At the Université de Sherbrooke in Canada, he has served as a Teaching Assistant and Lecturer, guiding undergraduate students in economics, grading assignments, and delivering engaging lectures. He also contributed as a Research Assistant at the Applied Public Economics Research Group (GREPA/ENAP) in Montreal, where he conducted studies on university governance. His academic journey includes master’s research projects in Côte d’Ivoire and France, where he analyzed the impact of climate change on growth in West Africa and the role of patents in developing economies.
His current research examines how interest rates influence risk-sharing under uncertainty. Building on recent theoretical advancements, he highlights how real interest rate variations affect risk-sharing through the pricing of both public and private assets, with the stochastic discount factor playing a central transmission role. This work illustrates his ability to bridge theoretical modeling with practical economic implications.
Beyond academia, Zana has gained professional experience in international organizations and social sectors. He completed an internship at AFRISTAT in Mali, where he trained in drafting economic reports, and worked at ADGESSA in Bordeaux, assisting unaccompanied minors in their daily integration. He also strengthens his academic community as an executive board member of the Association of PhD Students in Development Economics (ADED) at Université de Sherbrooke, where he oversees external relations with other associations.
Passionate about both teaching and research, Zana Christian Koné is committed to producing economic knowledge that is not only academically sound but also relevant for public policy and development strategies. His career reflects a balance between research, pedagogy, and social engagement, making him unique.
