Electroconvulsive Therapy is a last resort procedure used on those who are considered otherwise incurable. Its main function is to clear the nervous system of anomalous effects through the electrical stimulation of the brain.
This procedure can only be performed by licensed doctors.
The steps to ethical ECT are as follows:
Ensure the patient has a valid reason for ECT.
Valid reasons include anomalous afflications, hazmat suit stuck to body, or disguise removal.
Invalid reasons include seeing SCP-096, Blindness from SCP-1025, curable illnesses, fractures, etc...
If the patient has lost their keycard and requires a new one, make every effort to contact Site Administration to issue them a new one before proceeding with ECT.
If you are confused about what may be a valid reason, please contact a member of Medical Leadership.
Bring the patient to the Treatment Center (CL.2) which contains the ECT Machine.
Ask the patient for consent to Electroconvulsive Therapy. Consent is required for all procedures unless overridden by MTF, DEA, ISD, or Combat Medics for the purpose of removing a disguise.
Once consent is given, insist the patient "Do not go to the light."
Have the patient lay down in the Electroconvulsive Therapy Machine and start the procedure.
Once the procedure is over, have the patient stand and prepare them for discharge.
During site operations, personnel may incur trauma that results in a fractured limb. There are four different locations fractures occur, the left leg, right leg, left arm, and right arm. Arm fractures will cause the patient to be unable to switch their active item, while leg fractures will cause them to be unable to sprint. In order to cure a fracture, the following steps are required.
Diagnose the patient with a fracture. Often the patient themselves will be aware of their fracture.
Determine which limb is broken. This can be done using the X-Ray machine located in the Treatment Center (CL.2).
Have the patient lay in the machine. The large screen on top will show which limb is broken.
The image is facing you! It is a "my left your right" type scenario.
Create the proper dose of Calcium based on their broken limb. This can be done using the !medic command.
In the menu, under "Drugs," spawn a jar of Calcium for the appropriate limb.
Instruct the patient to consume the fracture cure, and then discharge.
As with any large operation, multiple personnel in close proximity can cause the spread of illnesses. Medical Personnel must be able to diagnose these illnesses and use chemical techniques to create and administer cures.
The main five illnesses you will encounter and their cures are as follows:
Influenza - Cured by Oseltamivir Phosphate
Sinus Infection - Cured by Chlorphenamine
Bacterial Infection - Cured by Erythromycin
Chest Infection - Cured by Amoxicillin
Common Cold - Cured by Dextrome, aka Cough Syrup
The minimum dosage for all medical cures is 50 mL, and can be obtained using centrifuge vials.
The specific recipes for the cures can be found at the following spreadsheet: [SCP-RP] CN Chemsheet 2025
Senior Doctor+ can also prescribe medicine to personnel. This medicine falls outside of the Treatable Illness category, and their effects are "RP" based.
The chemicals and their effects are as follows:
Steroids - Used to flush chemicals from a patient's system (Maybe cancels chemical effects?)
Quetiapine - A mental stabilizer, will help with mentally unstable patients, and certain cognitohazards
Diazepam - Used to treat anxiety, muscle spasms, and seizures
Nurofen - Used for pain relief and inflammation reduction
Epinephrine - Also known as adrenaline, used to treat allergic reactions, causes fight-or-flight response
The specific recipes for these medicines can be found at the following spreadsheet: [SCP-RP] CN Chemsheet 2025 - Google Sheets
The authority to perform psychological evaluations is granted by section 3.02 of the Code of Ethics. At this time, Sr. Doctors, Consultants, and the Directors of Medicine are the only individuals granted the authority to perform a psychological evaluation.
Psychological evaluations on Foundation Personnel may be mandated by members of the Site Administration, Site Command, or the Director of Medicine. Regimental and Department Leaders may mandate psychological evaluations for their respective Regiments or Departments. Psychological evaluations on D-Class Personnel may be mandated by any Senior Researcher or higher.
Psychological Evaluations may be requested by patients. If requested, bring them to a private location, preferrably within Medbay, and ask probing questions regarding their mental state. These questions could include their relationships with their peers, sleep schedule, traumatic history, or their beliefs. All psychological evaluations must be documented and submitted to the respective folder within the Medical Department SCIPNet.
Sentient SCP Welfare Evaluations are also an available option. If you are interested, please contact a member of the Medical Leadership Team for more information.
Surgery is a general procedure offered by the Department of Medicine. There are no specific outlined procedures, instead it is based on what the patient needs at a given time. Thus the only guideline we have for surgery is that consent is always required (unless overruled by a Clearance 4 Medical Personnel), and that the Code of Ethics and Code of Conduct must be followed.
This following section is OOC:
Surgery is the most free form type of procedure available in the medical center. It is entirely RP based, and therefore both the easiest and most difficult. It is easy in that no materials are required, but difficult in that it requires both parties to understand and RP properly. While you can generate your own rules for how the RP should play, this is the recommended method.
When doing a surgery, first determine the steps required. Then, for each step do /roll 100. If the result is over 50, the action passes. If it is below 50, you may have another doctor assist you with another roll. If theirs is below 50, then the patient must also roll. If their roll is above either of the doctors, then it fails. Failed rolls can have dire consequences, so don't fail the roll!
All required information for each surgery can be found on the cork board within the surgical room, with the steps needed to successfully complete them. List of surgical Chemicals:
Citalopram - Anti-depressant used to improve negative thoughts.
Codeine - Pain killer used to treat extreme pain
Saline - To disinfect medical equipment and to re balance electrolytes in patients
Etomidate - A form of anesthetic used during surgeries
Doxycycline - Used to reduce the rate of infection after a surgery
Adrenaline - Used to restart the heart and stop anaphylaxis from allergic reactions
Anything that does not fall under the above procedures is considered "Other." Be creative! If you have an idea for a medical procedure, feel free to approach a member of Medical Leadership, and we can approve it. Under 4.06 of the Code of Ethics, Site Command may approve specialized treatments that may be prohibited by specific Foundation amendments. If a treatment would violate an amendment of the Foundation Legal Codex, Code of Ethics, or Code of Conduct, bring it to a member of the Medical Leadership Team, who can bring it to Site Command.
