Studies and investigations on the interplay between regenerative agriculture and the circular economy in Romania and the Republic of Moldova
The SIRACE-ROMD project explores regenerative agriculture and the circular economy in Romania and Moldova, offering innovative solutions to environmental issues and food system sustainability. Through comparative analyses and identification of good practices, the project aims to promote resource efficiency, waste reduction and ecosystem restoration. Activities include mapping regenerative agricultural practices, developing a circular economy framework and generating policy recommendations to facilitate the transition to circular-regenerative agriculture. The project contributes to improving soil health, increasing biodiversity and ensuring regional food security, supporting a sustainable agricultural future.
The main objectives of the project include:
Assessing regenerative agricultural practices and their contribution to the circular economy.
Facilitating bilateral collaboration between researchers and experts from Romania and the Republic of Moldova.
Promoting innovation and knowledge exchange between partners for the sustainable development of agriculture and the circular economy.
Developing studies and recommendations to improve the management of agricultural resources and create sustainable policies in the field of agriculture and the circular economy.
The SIRACE-ROMD project is the result of a collaboration between several key partners:
Institute for Research in Circular Economy and Environment “Ernest Lupan” (IRCEM): It is the project coordinator. IRCEM is recognized for its expertise in sustainable development and the promotion of the circular economy. Their research focuses on resource management, waste reduction and transition initiatives towards a circular economic model.
Academy of Economic Studies of Moldova (ASEM): A partner institution involved in the research and analysis aspects of the project. ASEM researchers contribute to comparative studies and policy recommendations for regenerative agriculture.
National Center for Research and Seed Production “Selection” Sector (CNCPS): Another key partner from the Republic of Moldova, CNCPS focuses on identifying and promoting good practices in regenerative agriculture. They conduct research on crop rotation and sustainable agricultural methods, contributing to the project’s objectives of improving soil health and ecosystem resilience.
