SipSheep respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what information SipSheep may collect, how it is used, and what choices you have when using the SipSheep iPhone app, Apple Watch app, widgets, and Live Activities.
By using SipSheep, you agree to the practices described in this Privacy Policy.
SipSheep may collect or process the following types of information, depending on the features you use and the permissions you grant.
SipSheep stores hydration-related information that you create or configure in the app, including:
Water intake records
Record dates and times
Daily hydration goals
Reminder preferences
Wake and sleep schedule settings
Streaks, medals, progress summaries, and history
App preferences, such as sound, reminder mode, and Live Activity display mode
This data is used to provide hydration tracking, reminders, statistics, widgets, Live Activities, and Apple Watch sync.
If you choose to connect Apple Health, SipSheep may request permission to read and write water intake data. SipSheep uses this access to sync hydration records between SipSheep and Apple Health.
SipSheep does not sell HealthKit data, use HealthKit data for advertising, or share HealthKit data with third parties for advertising, data brokerage, or similar purposes.
You can manage or revoke Apple Health permissions at any time in the Health app or iOS Settings.
If you enable weather features, SipSheep may request access to your current location. Location is used to show local weather on the Home screen and to attach weather context to hydration records.
SipSheep may send approximate location coordinates to a weather service provider, such as OpenWeather, to retrieve current weather information. Weather data may be cached locally to improve performance and reduce repeated requests.
Location permission is optional. If you do not allow location access, weather features may be unavailable, but core hydration tracking will continue to work.
If you enable reminders, SipSheep may request notification permission. Notifications are used to send hydration reminders, status updates, and related app alerts.
SipSheep may use Apple Push Notification service and Firebase Cloud Messaging to support notification delivery and reliability. You can disable notifications at any time in iOS Settings or within the app where available.
If you use SipSheep on Apple Watch and enable automatic detection, SipSheep may process motion and activity data on your watch to help detect drinking gestures. This feature is used to create hydration records and improve the accuracy of automatic detection.
SipSheep may also check recent sleep status through HealthKit to avoid automatic detection while you appear to be asleep.
Automatic detection is optional and may not always be accurate. You can review, correct, or delete hydration records when needed.
SipSheep may use Firebase and related services to collect analytics, diagnostics, crash reports, remote configuration values, and service reliability information. This may include:
App version
Device and operating system information
Locale and time zone
App launch and screen view events
Feature usage events
Crash and performance diagnostics
Notification delivery or interaction status
Remote configuration status
We use this information to understand app stability, improve the user experience, diagnose issues, and maintain app functionality.
SipSheep uses information for the following purposes:
To provide hydration tracking and daily progress features
To save and display hydration history, trends, streaks, and medals
To schedule and deliver hydration reminders
To sync data between iPhone, Apple Watch, widgets, and Live Activities
To optionally sync water intake with Apple Health
To optionally show local weather and weather context
To improve app reliability, performance, and feature quality
To detect, prevent, and troubleshoot crashes, errors, abuse, or technical issues
Hydration records and app preferences are stored locally on your device. Some data may also be stored in an Apple App Group container so the iPhone app, Apple Watch app, widgets, and Live Activities can access shared hydration state.
Analytics, diagnostics, crash reports, remote configuration, and push notification-related information may be processed by third-party service providers used by SipSheep.
SipSheep may use third-party services, including but not limited to:
Firebase Analytics
Firebase Crashlytics
Firebase Remote Config
Firebase Cloud Messaging
Firebase App Check
OpenWeather or another weather data provider
These services may process information according to their own privacy policies. We use these services to support analytics, diagnostics, notifications, security, remote configuration, weather display, and app reliability.
SipSheep does not sell your personal information.
SipSheep may share or process information only in the following limited circumstances:
With service providers that help operate app features, such as analytics, diagnostics, notifications, remote configuration, app security, or weather data
With Apple services, when you choose to use Apple Health, notifications, widgets, Live Activities, or Apple Watch features
When required by law, legal process, or to protect the rights, safety, and security of users, the app, or others
SipSheep does not use HealthKit data for advertising.
SipSheep does not use hydration records to target third-party advertising. If future versions introduce advertising, tracking, or new third-party data sharing, this Privacy Policy and the App Store privacy information will be updated before those practices are used.
You can control your information and permissions in several ways:
Manage Apple Health access in the Health app or iOS Settings
Manage Location permission in iOS Settings
Manage Notification permission in iOS Settings
Manage Motion and Fitness-related permissions where applicable
Turn reminders and app sound on or off in SipSheep settings
Reset today's hydration progress in SipSheep
Delete or adjust hydration records where the app provides editing controls
Some features may not work as intended if required permissions are disabled.
SipSheep keeps hydration records and app preferences for as long as they remain stored in the app on your device or are needed to provide app features.
Analytics and diagnostics data may be retained by third-party service providers according to their retention policies.
SipSheep is intended for general wellness use. If you are a minor, please use SipSheep only with permission and guidance from a parent or legal guardian.
We do not knowingly collect personal information from children in a way that is intended for behavioral advertising or data sale.
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect information processed by SipSheep. However, no method of electronic storage or transmission is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
If you use SipSheep outside your country or region, your information may be processed in countries or regions where our service providers operate. Privacy laws may differ from those in your location.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in app features, legal requirements, platform requirements, or service providers. The updated version will be identified by a new "Last updated" date.
