Batch Paglaum at the Tokyo Port in Japan, December 2005.
Raising the flag for the Philippines for SSEAYP’s 32nd year is batch Paglaum.
A Cebuano term for hope, Paglaum, as the batch has defined distinctively, stands for “Paglalakbay Tungo sa Umaga” (Journey toward a prosperous tomorrow).
In 2005, the program took the batch to Malaysia, Thailand, Vietnam, Brunei, the Philippines, and Japan for 43 days.
On board Nippon Maru and in different institutions visited during country programs, batch Paglaum engaged in discussions on key topics relevant to the ASEAN region and Japan at that time. These topics included, among others, international relations, media and information technology, environment, and youth development.
