This was the digital design of the first SinuSense automated sinus massager for natural relief from sinonasal congestion. It was originally handheld and utilized rotational motion.
This was presented to the CAD Fabrication class of 60 students and Professor Jessica Fitzgerald on December 6th, 2022 and graded as the final project.

The Housing
This was designed in SOLIDWORKS. It houses the stepper motor, steel ball case, and wiring and batteries.
Material: Polyethelyne Plastic
This closes the shell with slight resistance against the walls of the handle, but not enough to be unremovable for battery replacement.

Massager Housing
The stepper motor spins this component around via the pin or fastener attaching the two components. This holds and moves the massager ball with it.
Material: Polyethelyne Plastic
This is a relatively tough steel ball that will roll about the facial sinus region, lightly digging into the skin to emulate massaging fingers.
Material: 316L Stainless Steel, soothing for the skin and easily cleaned.
Stepper Motor
This is attached to the massager case, allowing it to rotate the steel ball with it around 360 degrees, automating the massaging motion. A pin or fastener will go through this and the massager case so they rotate simultaneously.
This project was completed by Iris Li, during her firstyear at the University of Colorado Boulder, through the CAD Fabrication course in biomedical engineering.
