The start scene of sing street is when Conor moves schools due to the on going recession taking place. At this new school he is placed into a whole different learning environment, where teachers and students alike can be rough. During his first few days at this new school, he meets this girl named Raphina, who waits  on the steps of a house across the road from the school. Conor immediately takes an interest in Raphina and approaches her, aiming to converse with her. Raphina claims that she's a model and that she is going to go to London soon. Conor asks Raphina if she would like to take part in a music video for his "band".

A clear theme in this scene is Romance. We can clearly decipher that Conor has taken a liking to Raphina due to the fact that he is making up excuses to try to get to spend time with her and get her number 

In this scene, we can see that Raphina dresses in a certain way. Her style represents her identity and who she is as a model. Her bold makeup, outfit  and stance give her a certain alluring aura, which really caught Conor's attention.
